While Haggai spoke to the prince and the priest, and through them, to the people, Jesus speaks to us today without any such intermediaries. Indeed, Jesus is our prophet, prince, and priest. And whereas Haggai wrote about the historical event that occurred in Judah after the people returned from exile, Jesus is speaking to us, today’s Christians, about spiritual truth that the historical event in Judah foreshadowed.
